nickel-chitosan hybrid as a precursor for nickel oxide nanoporous particles for organic dyes photodegredation
Authors
abstract
hydrothermal synthesis of nickel-chitosan hybrid has been accomplished using ni(ch3coo)2,4h2o, chitosan and water as starting material, template and solvent respectively, followed by calcination at 800 and 900˚c to provide nanoporous nio800 and nio900. the solid products were characterized by x-ray diffraction (xrd), nitrogen adsorption-desorption, scanning electron microscopy (sem) and fourier transform infrared (ft-ir) techniques. nio800 proved to be active for adsorption of congo red with pseudo-second order kinetic model and adsorption isotherms, respectively fitted by freundlich equation. nio900 was also found to successfully catalyze the photodegradation of organic dye pollutants such as congo red and methylene blue. the kinetic of photocatalytic behavior of nio900 have proven to obey the first order and langmuir–hinshelwood model.

full textNickel Oxide/Carbon Nanotubes as Active Hybrid Material for Oxygen Evolution Reaction
Carbon nanotubes are of great interest due to their high surface area and rich edge sites, which are favorable for wide applications. Here, a simple and efficient routine is presented by decoration of multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) with nickel oxide (NiO) nanoparticles. The morphologies of NiO-MWCNT were investigated by using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energydispersive X-...
full textNickel Oxide (NiO) nanoparticles prepared by solid-state thermal decomposition of Nickel (II) schiff base precursor
In this paper, plate-like NiO nanoparticles were prepared by one-pot solid-state thermal decomposition of nickel (II) Schiff base complex as new precursor. First, the nickel (II) Schiff base precursor was prepared by solid-state grinding using nickel (II) nitrate hexahydrate, Ni(NO3)2∙6H2O, and the Schiff base ligand N,N′-bis-(salicylidene) benzene-1,4-diamine) for 30 min without using any solv...
full textNickel cobalt oxide/carbon nanotubes hybrid as a high-performance electrocatalyst for metal/air battery.
High-performance, low cost catalyst for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) remains a big challenge. Herein, nanostructured NiCo2O4/CNTs hybrid was proposed as a high-performance catalyst for metal/air battery for the first time. The well-formed NiCo2O4/CNTs hybrid was studied by steady-state linear polarization curves and galvanostatic discharge curves in comparison with CNTs-free NiCo2O4 and comm...
